Hotel occupancy tax (HOT, transient occupancy tax)
Hotel occupancy tax (also called transient occupancy or lodging tax) is a state or local tax on stays under a set length, usually 30 nights. Platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo often collect and remit it, but not always and not every local tax, so sometimes you must register and file it yourself.
